Summary: A beautiful, primitive Georgia and its people are brought to life in this sadly comic tragedy. Poor white sharecropper Ty Ty Warden is convinced that a golden treasure lies hidden, buried away somewhere on his land. As his impoverished family languishes, he spends years digging holes in his land, rather than cultivating it.
